St. Louis voters elected Tishaura Jones as the city’s new mayor.
Jones, the city’s treasurer, defeated Alderman Cara Spencer. Both are progressive Democrats, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Jones, who will be the first Black woman to hold the office, succeeds Mayor Lyda Krewson, who chose not to seek a second four-year term.
